At 30 hours old, naturally this brand new little being didn't want to move from his mum's warm chest.
"I'm right here. It's ok baby, I'm right here."
She kept repeating these words to him over and over, with such tenderness and love.
I am struck and amazed by just how perfectly he fits into her arms and rests above her soft, postpartum belly. She is lost in him. In his smell, in his sweet sounds, in this discovery. I see her marveling in his newness, yet when she tells me about him, she is describing an old, dear friend.
His darling sister just oozes character, charm and loveliness as she fills the room in the way three year olds do. She moves seamlessly between infatuation and indifference in a healthy and beautiful way.
She chooses her favourite music and dances with her Dad. He humors her with his moves and indulges her with love and playful affection. Mum and dad chat about the next stages of the day and the practicalities of nursery school and lunch and family visits as he swings her and hops with her, and I love this little glimpse into the beautiful texture of every day. The multitasking and the juggle, all wrapped up in love.
These moments fill my heart and soul as I reach out and catch them with the click of my shutter, before they float on by.
