This Father’s day has me thinking about Dads and the many roles that they play in our family lives.
I have worked with so many wonderful Dads over the years, first a birth doula and now as a birth and family photographer. I’ve been invited into the most intimate spaces in their family lives and have witnessed the myriad of beautiful ways that they show up wholeheartedly for their partners and their children, and always with so much love.
This is a celebration of those men.
Men who hold their babies close to their skin
Men who rub the shoulders and kiss the feet of their women
Men who get down on the floor and they play and play and play
Men who listen
Men who teach their daughters that they are powerful, strong and capable of anything they put their hearts and minds to
Men who show their sons how beautiful it is to feel, to cry and be vulnerable
Men who are grafting, on the night feeds, the school run, at the supermarkets and at the kitchen sink
Men who are in this 200% with open minds and open hearts
Men who keep showing up, with love and with tenderness. This kind of tenderness could change the world.
